LATAM Payments PE

Plin

Definition

Plin is Peru's interbank digital wallet, an alliance between BBVA, Interbank, Scotiabank and BanBif. It competes directly with Yape for person-to-person payments.

LATAM context

Unlike Yape (BCP-centric), Plin works across multiple banks. Anyone with an account at one of the founding banks can use Plin without downloading a separate app, since it's built into each bank's own app. It also accepts QR payments at merchants.

Concrete example

On a BBVA Perú statement: "Plin enviado - Cel ***5678 - 100 PEN - REF: PLIN20260418".

How it shows up on your bank statement

Since it's interoperable across several banks, Plin transactions appear inside the statement of the linked bank account, not on a statement of their own. They're identified by the label 'PLIN' followed by the contact's name or phone number, and tend to be small, frequent amounts.

How does finO$ handle this?

finO$ identifies Plin transactions inside BBVA/Interbank/Scotia/BanBif statements and separates them from regular transfers. Useful for analyzing spend on quick payments.

Frequently asked questions about Plin

Where do I see my Plin transactions?

On the statement of whichever bank you operate from, because Plin isn't a separate account; it's a payments layer on top of your existing account. That's why they show up mixed in with the rest of your transactions.

Can I receive from Yape into Plin?

Yes, the two wallets are interoperable. The statement records the transaction under whichever wallet processed it, which sometimes confuses people reconciling against what they remember doing.
